Rationale for Module |
This module provides an introduction to the
cultural and creative industries sector, including the performing arts,
the visual arts, museums, galleries and the heritage industry. The
module considers the growth and diversity of this sector and the issues
that concern cultural industry professionals. It examines the challenge
for cultural organisations of responding to developments in public
policy, evolving public taste and consumer demand, and explores the
meanings of ‘culture’ in its various commercial forms and its
interdependent relationship with society. The module serves as preparation for modules at Level 2: CM 200, CM 250, MM 200, as well as the Level 3 modules CM 330 and CM 390. |
