The increasing globally connected nature of modern business brings with it new
challenges to be addressed and new opportunities to be seized by managers with
expert leadership and communication competence.
HIB offers a postgraduate programme in International Leadership & Communication
leading to the award of a Master's degree. The overall objective of the
programme is to enable students to combine communication and leadership skills
to transform multicultural situations, in which various cultures simply coexist,
or possibly clash, into intercultural ones characterized by mutual respect and
reciprocal enhancement.
The Master studies are conceived as a consecutive programme and thus builds upon prior knowledge and skills gained from a relevant
first degree. The entry
requirement will therefore be a degree (Bachelor's or German Diplom) equivalent
to at least 180 ECTS credits in the special subject to be studied. Together with
the Bachelor's award, the Master's degree thus represents an overall total of
300 ECTS credits.
The
Master's programme is application oriented. Your subsequent 'employability' will
thus constitute a point of reference throughout. It is distinctive in that:
• it equips you with the leadership and communication tools to handle the
challenges and exploit the opportunities presented by
international business
• the lecturers have wide-ranging business, academic and international
experience
• it has a favourable tutor-student ratio allowing small group learning,
individualised supervision and personalised contact
• its approach to teaching and learning integrates theory and practice: theory
is applied to practical management problems in case
studies and project work
• the programme is taught and assessed in English – the language of
international business
• you are supported in finding workplacements as well as in career planning
and entry by the Career Guidance & Placement
Service
• you gain an internationally recognized MA degree awarded by the British Open
University
• the programme enhances your employability and career chances by:
- alignment with a range of external reference points drawn from professional
practice
- familiarising you with current professional developments and requirements
through regular company presentations, as well as
field trips and study visits
- developing your professional and key skills through an integrated
programme of personal development planning
- providing you with the opportunity to develop foreign language skills and
intercultural competence
- encouraging and enabling you to take responsibility for your learning
and professional development
