Professional Studies in Marleting Management - Overview
Are you interested in how companies market products and services on an
international scale and develop communication strategies for markets at home and
abroad? Our professional studies in marketing management have
been developed for professionals who wish to combine a qualification in
business management and marketing management with high-level training in at
least two foreign languages. The studies are geared to the job profiles as found
in marketing management practice, particularly in marketing communications:
In core modules such as business administration, economics, accountancy, law,
and human resources management you begin by broadening the general business
knowledge that you acquired during your commercial training. In addition, our
comprehensive software training brings you up to speed in all job-related office
applications. You go on to specialise in marketing, learning for example how companies develop
strategies in order to secure for themselves a cutting edge over national and
international competitors in the long term. In the module on product, price,
distribution and communications policy you learn about the various tools used in
operative marketing. The areas marketing communication and media constitute a
special study focus, as it is only with the help of modern mass media that
companies can communicate effectively with their target groups. In order to keep
your scope and development opportunities in
marketing professions as broad as
possible, the marketing modules qualify you for important transversal functions
of relevance to marketing in companies within all sectors of the economy.
Professional studies culminating in a diploma as a business adminstrator for
marketing particularly prepares you for work in specialised companies within the
marketing communications and media sectors.
During your continuing education in Marketing you take at least 2 foreign languages. We offer you different language levels to suit your prior knowledge and your interests: besides English you take a second foreign language such as Spanish or French. In Year 2 of the course, if you have a strong aptitude for foreign languages you can also opt to take a third language such as French, Spanish, Italian or Chinese. Subsidiary language areas such as Corporate Communication, Conversation, and Translation ensure that the language training is geared to the demands of your subsequent working world. The additional Areas Studies module gives you important insights into the history, culture and economic life of the different language areas. Language qualifications are an important building block for your future professional development, particularly if you aspire to managerial posts. They enable you to carry out your responsibilities within the company with confidence, not just in terms of technical expertise but also when negotiating with international business partners in a foreign language.
At the end of the second year you document your ability to consolidate, apply and present the knowledge you have acquired by independently preparing a dissertation on a marketing topic. The ideal situation is of course to write the business administration paper in close co-operation with a company.
In an optional third year of study that leads to an internationally recognised Bachelor's degree and is conducted entirely in English, you choose supplementary modules on top of the compulsory Marketing and Media modules in areas such as events management, culture management, or marketing management. You are thus free to choose your modules to suit your subject interests. HIB will also introduce an optional post-graduate programme in marketing management following on from the Bachelor's programme and leading to the award of a Master's degree.
