Entry requirements:
general qualification for university entrance (equivalent to Abitur), subject-linked university entrance qualification (equivalent to fachgebundene Hochschulreife), possibly also qualification for entry to universities of applied sciences (equivalent to Fachhochschulreife)
- 1st foreign language English: studied for at least 7 years,
- 2nd foreign language* Spanish / French: no prior knowledge required,
- possibly French/Spanish/Italian/Chinese as a 3rd foreign language: no prior knowledge required.
*The 2nd foreign languages Spanish and French are offered at different language levels to
 accomodate for different levels of prior knowledge.

Duration of programme:
4 – 9 semesters depending on the chosen diploma/degree
Semester 1 - 2:
semesters 1 - 2 are predominantly held in German
business context & functions; introduction to event management; introductory economics; accounting; professional communication & development; information management & office management; software-applications: internet, word processing, spreadsheet analysis, databases, presentation software; modules in 2 foreign languages.
Semester 3 - 4:
semesters 3 - 4 are predominantly held in German
event operations management; event marketing; global MICE Markets; managing the organisation & leadership; project management & professional communication; law for Event Managers;
modules in 2 or 3 foreign languages.
 
Semester 5 - 6:
semesters 5 - 6 are held in English
strategic event management; contemporary issues in the leisure & creative industries (case study project); event, incentive & business tourism; international management and marketing strategy; business analysis and decision-making; research methods.
bachelor dissertation
on top of this you choose two electives from the remaining range of study modules offered by Heidelberg International Business Academy such as e.g. international hospitality industry management / managing service operations / consumer behaviour / 2nd foreign language etc.
semester 5 can, by request, be spent abroad
Semester 7 - 9:
consecutive Master's programme at HIB. The programme is undergoing validation.

semesters 7 - 9 are held in English
event consultancy; risk and impact Management in international Event Management; advanced research methods; managing innovation and change; entrepreneurship & new ventures.
master dissertation
on top of this you choose three electives from the remaining range of study modules offered by Heidelberg International Business Academy such as e.g. Business Ethics & Corporate Governance / Management of Not-for-Profit Organisations / 2nd foreign language etc.
semester 8 can, by request, be spent abroad
Foreign languages:
1st and 2nd foreign languages English and Spanish / French
business terminology; language exercises and style; commercial communication; economics and applied geography; translation of general and business texts.
3rd foreign language (where applicable): Spanish / Italian / Chinese
basic vocabulary and business terminology; language exercises; reading and listening comprehension; eco-nomics and applied geography; commercial communication; conversation; translation.
Personal development:
job application training, telephone training, effective communication, presentation and visualisation, modern business etiquette.
Placements:
- after semester 2: approx. 3 months at home or abroad,
- after semester 8: approx. 4 months at home or abroad.
Awards:
- 2nd semester: State-Certified Diploma as Wirtschaftsassistent,
- 4th semester: State-Certified Diploma as Wirtschaftskorrespondent for English,
                       Diploma as Internationaler Eventmanager,
- 6th semester: Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in International Business with
                       Event and Congress Management.
- semester 9: Master of Arts in International Business with Event and Congress Management.
  HIB will introduce a Master's programme for event and congress management that builds on the
  existing Bachelor's programme. The programme is undergoing validation. Further information on
  the new Master's programme.
Options:
- language examinations set by
  the London, Paris and Madrid Chambers of Commerce and Industry,
- European Computer Driving Licence,
- 'Fit for Success' certificate in co-operation with the Rhein-Neckar
  Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Financial support:
upon fulfilment of certain personal criteria the Bachelor programme (semesters 1 - 6) is eligible for public funding via BAföG (Federal Education and Training Assistance Act), federal government student loans, etc. Please apply to our Student Office for further details
furthermore, the Academy offers an attractive student funding programme
