Upon successful completion of the three-year degree-level course in Event and
Congress Management at
Heidelberg International Business Academy in Heidelberg, Germany, you will be awarded a Bachelor of
Arts (Honours) in International Business with Event and Congress Management. HIB has

programme in Event Management to an
accreditation procedure conducted by the Open University Validation Services

HIB plans to introduce a post-graduate
programme in Event Management following on from the Bachelor's degree and
leading to the award of a Master's degree as of the winter semester 2011.
The Master's programme is currently undergoing validation. This means that if
you take up your studies in the winter semester of 2008, you can go on to
take a consecutive Master's programme in Event Management straight after
receiving your Bachelor's award, since as plans currently stand, the validation of the Master's programme will have been completed in good time.
The
second year of study leads to the diploma as Internationaler Eventmanager. With the integrated examination for state-certified
Wirtschaftskorrespondent Englisch you benefit from the special tradition and
experience of Heidelberg International Business Academy in the field of
foreign language
training. State recognition means that the examinations are under the
supervision of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Culture and that you receive
state diplomas at the end of the second year. This guarantees you clearly
defined, high-level academic curricula.

»Why
the HIB? Not just because Heidelberg is such a beautiful town, but because the
concept at the HIB was the right one for me. On the one hand I was able to
acquire the theoretical skills I need in my present job, and at the same time
apply them in various projects. Moreover, the third study year which is
delivered entirely in English gives the programme an international note. The
Bachelor degree from the HIB provides me with a good basis and a solid knowledge
of my specialist field, as well as widening my general knowledge base. Job
experience is of course very important in the event industry and I was able to
acquire some during the internships I did as part of my studies.
From August to December (after graduation in July) I worked at the head office
of the Commerzbank as a trainee in the Corporate Events department. This was an
excellent springboard for my job as event manageress in sales and

My job at cominvest involves organizing trade fairs, road shows and marketing
events for private customers. It is of course an advantage when you understand
the product and the underlying processes. The broad knowledge base in business
management, law, tourism management, business analysis, marketing, consumer
behaviour as well as event and congress management has been a great help in my
job.
Finally, I would just like to say thank you to the HIB for the 3 instructive
years and for preparing me well for the “real world of work”. I can only advise
all students to do a Bachelor degree, or even a Masters, as this gives you a
good grounding in the theory and you still have enough time to get hands-on
experience as well. This is the right mix if you want to be well-prepared to
