With
the aim of bringing your professional ambitions to life, the course not only
prepares you for your exams but also teaches you a professional approach to
tackling the tasks that you will encounter in the world of work. This is why we
are not merely interested in imparting specialist knowledge but are also keen to
work with you in further developing the skills you will need in your
subsequent job in international management. This includes honing your ability to
analyse, synthesise and evaluate, along with your expertise with regard to
methodology and communication. In the course of your studies you will undertake
placements that allow you initial insights into work practice and that
might also lay the foundation for your entry into the workplace. In the frequent
corporate events with speakers from the world of business and graduates
of HIB, you have the chance to benefit from the work experience of professionals.
What is more, you can get 'first-hand' experience of companies during projects,
excursions or visits to trade fairs.
Towards
the end of my vocational training as a travel agent I thought long and hard
about follow-up studies. I then de-cided on HIB, which offers a 2-year course
leading to a diploma as an International Tourism Assistant. It doesn't take too
long, but is all-embracing and practice oriented.
Today I work for the tour operator DERTOUR in the sales promotion
department of the marketing division, where I did my placement. I really enjoy
the job, particularly the variety it offers: organising and staging events,
specialist study trips and training courses. This means that you are organiser,
travel guide and tea-cher all in one. In the workplace I can benefit a lot from
the marketing subjects taught in my second year of study.
