During your course we qualify you for modern, communication-oriented service occupations. In order that you can make full use of the fascinating job opportunities available in this era of internationalisation and globalisation your management studies also require you to complete a high-level qualification in at least two foreign languages. The language training is geared to the demands of your eventual employer and the needs of your eventual business partners.
These
days, your merits as a member of staff are judged in terms of traits such as the
ability to work in a team and deal with conflict, and your communication skills,
especially if you aspire to a managerial post. During your training at
Heidelberg International Business Academy you receive comprehensive
training in soft
skills. Why? Because we prepare you for an international career in service
management: soft skills, that is to say the knowledge required to deal with
people and decisions, are something that you can and must deploy in working life
across all countries and sectors.
These
days, companies take it for granted that their staff will have a practical grasp
of modern media: com-munication with colleagues, business partners and customers
takes place through a variety of media that are subject to rapid technological
change. During your studies at HIB, presentations, workshops and work on case
studies or projects give you the chance to train in the use of all kinds of
media. Furthermore, we bring you up to speed for the workplace in all
professionally relevant software applications such as internet, text processing,
spreadsheets, data bases and presentation software.
Even
while still at school, I knew that my eventual career would involve languages. I
very much liked the sound of International Office Manager as a job description
since it combines languages with organisation and business aspects.
This expectation was confirmed during the two years at HIB. The combination of
language subjects, expertly taught by competent and in some cases
native-speaking tutors, with business and economic subjects as well as office
organisation meant that the training was interesting and varied. During
different voluntary place-ments I realised that the knowledge imparted by the
HIB is very practice oriented and can be put to a multitude of uses.
Since completing my course, during which I also passed the language
examinations of the London, Paris and Madrid chambers of Industry and Commerce,
I have been working as a foreign correspondence secre-tary and assistant in the
Baden-Württemberg federal state office at the EU in Brussels. I find my
language and organisational skills extremely useful here and am glad I decided
to train at Heidelberg International Business Academy.
