International Studies in Business Management - Overview
Are
you interested in the international world of business and looking to work with
people? Do you have a talent for organising and an analytical mind? Then you
meet the main requirements for a programe in International Business Management
and for a variety of career opportunities in international business. The study
programme offers a special combination of business studies and
high-level training in at least two foreign languages. It gives you
scientifically sound grounded
management know-how
geared to the requirements of a career in international management. The modules
offered in your business studies such as business analysis and decision-making
enable you to analyse and evaluate the facts of business management. The
information acquired forms the basis for spot-on managerial decisions. During
course activities such as corporate management and human resources management or
in the field of marketing you learn how important the human factor actually is
when it comes to corporate decision-making. This combination of insights and
skills enables you to develop solutions or organisational recommendations within
and on behalf of companies. The comprehensive software training brings you up to
speed in all job-related software applications. In the third year of study,
which takes place entirely in English, you choose supplementary modules on top
of the compulsory business modules in areas such as media, events or cultural
management that you are free to choose to suit your subject interests.
Foreign
language training is an important highlight of international business
studies: besides English, you take a further world trade language such as
Spanish or French. If you have a strong aptitude for foreign languages, as of
semester 3 you can
also study in three languages, selecting a third language such as French,
Spanish, Italian or
Chinese. Subsidiary language areas such as corporate communication, conversation,
and translation ensure that the language training is geared to the demands of
your subsequent working world. The additional Area Studies module gives you
important insights into the history, culture and economic life of the different
language areas. After semester 2, you complete a placement of around 3
months' duration and after semester 8, you complete a 4-months' placement. This gives you a general idea of the professional
opportunities available in the creative indiustries. Needless to say, you don't
have to spend this practical phase in domestic companies but are also free to
experience first hand the fascinating career options that the tourist industry
abroad has to offer. Within the framework of our comprehensive
soft skills
training you devote yourself to developing your personality. You deal with
topics such as the ability to work in a team, conflict-solving potential and
strong communication skills – attributes of particular importance in subsequent
managerial posts.
